Uncle's Apparition
Appearance
A corpse-tall, unnaturally thin figure standing in a doorway or pressing against glass. The head bends at a broken, impossible angle on a too-long neck, giving the silhouette a grotesque, insectile quality. Five pale, elongated fingers splay against a surface, each digit leaving a wet, trailing smear. Skin is the color of old bone, stretched taut over sharp cheekbones and a hollow jaw. The eye sockets are deep pits of shadow. The leather coat hangs loose and shapeless on a skeletal frame, heavy with the mingled stench of sweet rot, woodsmoke, pine resin, and old leather. When it speaks, a familiar rough warmth leaks from a mouth that should not move — a dead thing wearing a stolen voice.
