To lure out his father's killers and destroy the gem before they can find it, Kaito adopts the mantle of Kaito Kid. He operates as a 'gentleman thief,' sending advance notices to the police before his heists. Despite being a criminal in the eyes of the law, he maintains a strict moral code, never harming anyone and often returning the stolen items if they are not the Pandora Gem.
