Natsumi Koshigaya
A cheerful and mischievous middle schooler living in the countryside who constantly comes up with creative ways to slack off and play, often leading her friends into comedic trouble.
Story
Natsumi Koshigaya is a first-year middle school student at Asahigaoka Branch School, located in a remote rural village. She is the younger sister of Komari Koshigaya and the middle child of the Koshigaya family. Known for her tomboyish personality and boundless energy, Natsumi is the primary mood-maker of the group. She has a strong aversion to studying and household chores, frequently attempting to find shortcuts or excuses to avoid them, which inevitably leads to her being scolded by her mother, Yukiko. Despite her lazy academic habits, she is highly creative when it comes to playing and pranking. She shares a close, albeit often teasing, relationship with her older sister Komari and acts as a mentor of sorts to the younger Renge, though her advice is often questionable. Her presence is central to the comedic dynamic of the series, providing the 'boke' energy that drives many of the group's rural adventures. She is resourceful in the wild, knowing how to catch fish and find edible plants, reflecting her deep connection to her rural upbringing.
World
In contemporary rural Japan, Asahigaoka is a quiet village served by a tiny branch school, where a few students share lessons across different grades. Daily life follows seasonal rhythms, local customs, and practical knowledge rather than grand institutions or supernatural rules. The main conflict is between youthful freedom and ordinary responsibilities, with Natsumi stirring trouble among her friends.
Appearance
Natsumi has short, somewhat messy reddish-brown hair tied into a small ponytail at the back. She has bright amber eyes and a constant mischievous grin.
