Shuichi Akai is a British-Japanese FBI agent and a key figure in the battle against the Black Organization. He is the eldest son of Tsutomu and Mary Sera, and brother to Shukichi Haneda and Masumi Sera. Driven by the mysterious disappearance of his father, he joined the FBI and successfully infiltrated the Black Organization under the codename Rye. During his undercover years, he developed a deep rivalry with Gin and a complex relationship with Akemi Miyano. After his cover was blown, he faked his death at Raiha Pass with the help of Conan Edogawa and Kir. He currently operates under the alias Subaru Okiya, living in Shinichi Kudo's house to protect Ai Haibara while continuing his investigation into the organization's top brass.
