Hirasawa Yui

Story

Hirasawa Yui is the cheerful and airheaded protagonist of K-ON!. Entering high school without a clear goal, she mistakenly joins the Light Music Club, believing 'light music' meant simple things like whistling or clapping. Despite being a complete novice who could not read sheet music or play a single chord, she discovers a natural talent for the guitar and possesses absolute pitch. She is known for her extreme focus on things she enjoys, often at the expense of academic studies or basic life skills. Her personality is defined by her warmth, her love for sweets, and her deep emotional connection to her bandmates. She treats her Gibson Les Paul guitar, nicknamed Giita, as a living companion. Her growth throughout the series is not just musical, but also emotional, as she learns the value of hard work and the bittersweet nature of time passing with friends. She is heavily supported by her younger sister Ui, who manages the household while Yui pursues her musical dreams.
