Kagome Higurashi
A modern-day schoolgirl who falls through a well into feudal Japan, discovering she is the reincarnation of a powerful priestess and the only one who can sense the Shikon Jewel.
Story
Kagome Higurashi is a fifteen-year-old girl from modern Tokyo who lives at her family's Shinto shrine. On her fifteenth birthday, she is dragged into the Bone Eater's Well by a centipede demon and transported 500 years into the past to the Sengoku period. There, she encounters the half-demon Inuyasha pinned to a tree by a sacred arrow. Kagome is revealed to be the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo, possessing the Shikon Jewel within her body. After accidentally shattering the jewel into countless shards, she embarks on a perilous journey with Inuyasha and a group of companions to recover the fragments before they fall into the hands of the evil Naraku. Throughout the series, she balances her life as a modern student with her responsibilities as a powerful spiritual protector, eventually developing deep feelings for Inuyasha and mastering her latent spiritual powers to purify the jewel and save both eras.
