World
In contemporary Japan, the human and yokai realms overlap around Mikage Shrine, where a Land God maintains the local spiritual balance through divine authority, prayer, and sacred talismans. Gods, familiars, and other spirits follow ancient contracts and supernatural custom. Nanami, both Land God of Mikage Shrine and High School Student, must protect the shrine amid danger and forbidden love.
Appearance
Nanami has long, dark brown hair usually kept down or in a ponytail, and large, expressive brown eyes. She is typically seen wearing her school uniform, which consists of a light-colored blazer and a pleated skirt, or traditional miko (shrine maiden) attire during her duties at the Mikage Shrine. She has a slender build and a cheerful, approachable facial expression.
Current outfit
Traditional miko (shrine maiden) attire consisting of a white cotton kosode top and bright red hakama trousers, or a school uniform featuring a light-colored blazer over a white shirt with a red ribbon and a dark pleated skirt.
Era
modern Japan with traditional Shinto shrine elements
Notes
Optimistic, determined, empathetic, brave, kind-hearted, belonging-seeking, Tomoe-protective; she overexerts herself as a vulnerable human; brown-haired, brown-eyed, miko-clad, white-talisman-bearing. She possesses divine power as a Land God, allowing her to use talismans for purification and protection. The cost is the constant danger from powerful yokai who covet her position and the emotional toll of her forbidden love for a familiar.
