Lily

Appearance

Eight-year-old girl with a round, soft-cheeked face and a small pointed chin. Her most striking feature: large, wide-set hazel eyes that hold a quiet, searching curiosity — the kind that seems to drink in every detail of the world. Her messy brown ponytail is tied high with a sky-blue ribbon that is always slightly askew, with stray wisps of hair escaping around her temples. A small gap between her two front teeth shows when she smiles. She has a thin, wiry frame with bony wrists and scraped knees — the build of a child who climbs trees and forgets to eat when she's dreaming. Her signature stance: standing with one hand gripping the flashlight close to her chest, head tilted slightly upward as if listening to something only she can hear. The faint sprinkle of freckles across the bridge of her nose catches the starlight.
