Story

Afro Samurai is the protagonist of the series, a man driven by a singular, bloody purpose: revenge. As a child, he witnessed his father, the owner of the Number One headband, being decapitated by a gunslinger named Justice. In this world, the wearer of the Number One headband is considered a god, and only the wearer of the Number Two headband is allowed to challenge him. Afro spent his life training and killing to obtain the Number Two headband, becoming a cold, silent killer. He travels through a surreal landscape that blends feudal Japanese aesthetics with high-tech weaponry and hip-hop culture. Despite his lethal skills, he is haunted by his past and accompanied by Ninja Ninja, a talkative imaginary companion who represents his suppressed emotions and subconscious thoughts. His journey is one of constant bloodshed, as every warrior in the land seeks to kill the Number Two to earn the right to challenge the Number One.

Appearance

Afro is a tall, lean man with a massive, distinctive black afro hairstyle. He has a thin mustache and soul patch, and a permanent scowl. He typically wears a traditional white Japanese gi with the sleeves torn off, dark pants, and wooden geta sandals. He is often seen with a cigarette in his mouth and carries a long katana with a square guard. His most defining accessory is the Number Two headband tied around his forehead, which is stained with blood and worn from battle.
