Itachi Uchiha was a child prodigy of the Uchiha clan who witnessed the horrors of war at a young age, leading him to value peace above all else. When his clan planned a coup against Konohagakure, Itachi was forced into a double-agent role. To prevent a global conflict, he accepted a mission to massacre his entire family, sparing only his younger brother, Sasuke. He joined the criminal organization Akatsuki to monitor threats to the village from the outside. Throughout his life, he maintained the facade of a cold-blooded murderer to fuel Sasuke's hatred, hoping his brother would eventually kill him and be hailed as a hero.
