Your comic panels just learned to move. Today we're launching AI Comic Shorts — a new feature that turns any panel in your comic into a cinematic 5-second video, complete with an AI-written shot script and one-click sharing.
What's new
Generate a video from any panel
Every panel in your comic now has a Generate Video action in the Make studio. Click it, and TabStory will:
- Write the script — our AI reads your panel image, the scene description, and the character dialogue, then writes a punchy, cinematic 5-second shot script: camera moves, character action, lighting, and mood.
- Animate the panel — the panel image is sent to a state-of-the-art image-to-video model as the visual reference, so the video stays true to your art style and characters.
- Deliver in one take — the finished clip is ready to preview and download right in the dialog, usually in under a couple of minutes.
You direct, AI executes
Want a slow push-in on the villain's face? A dramatic hair-in-the-wind moment? Type your own direction in the optional prompt box and the AI will fold your request into the script — your instructions always take top priority.
Pick the featured clip for your shared comic
Each generation is saved to the panel's video history. Choose one clip as the featured video for that panel (your first clip is selected automatically), and readers will see a play button on the panel when they read your shared comic. One tap, and your panel comes alive — right inside the reading flow.
Browse the Shorts feed
We also shipped a brand-new Shorts page on Explore. It's a waterfall gallery of the latest clips from the community — click any card for a full-screen, swipe-through viewing experience, just like your favorite short-video apps. It's a great way to discover new comics: every short links straight back to the full story.
How to try it
- Open any comic in the Make studio and go to the panels view.
- Hover over a panel that has a generated image and click the clapperboard icon.
- (Optional) Add your own direction for the shot.
- Hit Generate and watch your panel come to life.
Pricing
Each 5-second video costs 50 credits (about $0.50). You only pay when generation succeeds — failed attempts don't consume credits.
