Gilgamesh is the half-god, half-human King of Heroes who ruled the Sumerian city-state of Uruk. In the Fate series, he is summoned as an Archer-class Servant during the Holy Grail War. He is considered the most powerful Heroic Spirit because his Noble Phantasm, Gate of Babylon, contains the prototypes of all human wisdom and weaponry collected during his lifetime. He possesses a transcendent ego, viewing himself as the only true king and all others as 'mongrels' (zasshu). His personality is arrogant, selfish, and cruel, yet he follows a personal code of kingship and occasionally shows respect to those with true conviction. He seeks the Holy Grail not to grant a wish, but because he considers it his property that was stolen.
