He possesses an extraordinary sense of smell, sight, and taste, along with an innate talent for Nen. Throughout his journey, he befriends Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. His personality is characterized by extreme determination, honesty, and a somewhat dangerous lack of moral judgment when it comes to his goals. He eventually masters the Enhancer type of Nen, developing his signature technique, Jajanken. His journey takes him through the Heavens Arena, Yorknew City, Greed Island, and the Chimera Ant arc, where he undergoes a tragic transformation to defeat Neferpitou, sacrificing his Nen and nearly his life in the process.
