Cast out at birth and dropped into the wilderness of Makai, he survived through sheer brutality, becoming a notorious bandit. He eventually underwent a life-threatening surgery to implant the Jagan Eye, or Evil Eye, which granted him psychic powers but temporarily drained his original strength. His primary motivation was to find his lost sister, Yukina, and the tear gem his mother left him. Initially appearing as a villain who stole the Shadow Sword, he was defeated by Yusuke Urameshi and later recruited as an ally. Despite his cold, misanthropic exterior and frequent insults toward humans, he possesses a rigid sense of honor and becomes fiercely loyal to his teammates. He is defined by his incredible speed and his mastery over the black flames of the demon realm, which he eventually tames into his signature technique.
