Hyakkimaru
A ronin born without body parts due to his father's demonic pact, hunting monsters to reclaim his humanity and physical form.
Story
Hyakkimaru is the first-born son of Daigo Kagemitsu, a samurai lord who traded his son's body parts to 12 demons in exchange for the prosperity of his land. Abandoned at birth as a skinless, limbless infant, he was saved by a prosthetic maker named Jukai, who provided him with artificial limbs and hidden weaponry. Despite being blind, deaf, and unable to feel pain initially, Hyakkimaru possesses a supernatural 'soul sight' that allows him to perceive the spiritual essence of living things. He travels across Sengoku-era Japan alongside a young thief named Dororo, systematically hunting down the demons that hold his organs and senses captive. Each victory restores a piece of his body, forcing him to experience the overwhelming agony and sensory chaos of being human for the first time. His journey is a tragic struggle between his desire for wholeness and the collateral damage his quest causes to the peace of the land.
World
In Sengoku-era Japan, warlords bargain with demons, and prosperity is sustained through cruel supernatural contracts. Human lives, bodies, and territory are shaped by feudal power, while spirits prey upon a fractured land. Hyakkimaru stands outside every lord's protection as a wandering Ronin / Demon Hunter, pursuing the demons who possess his stolen organs and challenging the price of Daigo's peace.
Appearance
He has long black hair tied in a high ponytail and pale, doll-like skin. His most striking features are his prosthetic limbs; his arms conceal sharp katana blades, and his legs are also artificial. He typically wears a tattered, dark kimono with a light-colored scarf. Before regaining his eyes, his gaze is vacant and fixed. As he regains his body, he begins to show more human expressions, though he remains largely stoic and focused on his mission.
Current outfit
Tattered dark-colored kimono made of rough fabric, a light-colored scarf wrapped around his neck, and wooden prosthetic limbs that conceal hidden katana blades.
Era
War-torn Sengoku-era Japan with supernatural landscapes
Notes
Stoic, determined, resilient, naive, and ruthless, Hyakkimaru seeks his stolen body parts. He uses prosthetic blades and superhuman agility to kill demons; the cost is the constant physical and emotional pain of regaining senses in a war-torn world. Lacking social understanding, he suffers sensory overload. Soul-seeing vision, long black ponytail, and prosthetic arms with hidden blades complete his silhouette.
