Story

Yusuke Urameshi begins as a fourteen-year-old street-fighting delinquent with a tough exterior and a penchant for skipping school. His life changes drastically when he unexpectedly sacrifices himself to save a young boy from an oncoming car. Because the Spirit World did not expect such a selfless act from a known troublemaker, he is given a chance to return to life after passing a series of tests. Upon his resurrection, he is appointed as a Spirit Detective by Koenma, tasked with investigating supernatural occurrences in the human world. Throughout his journey, he develops deep bonds with his rival Kuwabara and demons Hiei and Kurama. He eventually discovers his ancestral connection to the demon realm as a descendant of the Mazoku, which grants him immense power but complicates his identity. His growth from a selfish brawler to a selfless protector of both worlds defines his character arc.

World

In a contemporary Japan where the Human World, Spirit World, and Demon World overlap, unseen apparitions and demons threaten ordinary lives.
