When refine is the right tool

Use refine when the panel is almost the page you wanted. The face is close, the staging is close, and one instruction can move it. Use a full regenerate when the prompt itself was wrong. Use Sketch when the layout of the page is wrong. Use Infinite Canvas when one region of a still — a hand, a sign, the eyes — should change and the rest of the pixels should stay.

Instructions that tend to land

  • Name the change and the thing that must stay: “night sky, same coat, same two people.”
  • One emotion or one pose is easier than a new plot beat.
  • If the line of dialogue is baked into the image, say what the new line should read.
  • If refine keeps drifting the face, go back to the character reference and regenerate the panel from the prompt instead.

Refine spends a generation. The exact credit cost follows the painting model in use. History is free to restore.
