How to use Image to PSD Layers

Leave Advanced off and the character, text, props, and background are detected on their own. Turn it on to name what you want, such as “split the title and the character”.

What is Image to PSD Layers?
A ChatGPT image, a Midjourney render, or an exported poster is one flat sheet of pixels. Moving the title or swapping the background means cutting every piece out by hand.
Image to PSD Layers does the cutting. Upload one image and get back a Photoshop PSD with each element on its own transparent layer, the same layers as PNGs, and a bottom layer where the model has painted in what used to be hidden behind them.
It works on GPT Image and Midjourney output, Stable Diffusion, Nano Banana, Seedream, and hand-drawn illustrations alike. Tab Story is not affiliated with OpenAI or Midjourney: it takes the image you already have and separates it.
FAQ
Do I have to write a prompt?
No. With Advanced turned off, the image is split automatically and no prompt is sent. Turn Advanced on only when you want to name specific elements.
What is in the ZIP?
One PNG for the background, one transparent PNG for each separated element, and a PSD file named layers.psd with those layers stacked in place.
Can I edit the layers afterward?
Yes. Open the PSD in Photoshop, or drop the PNGs into another editor. Each PNG keeps its own transparency.
Can I turn a Midjourney or ChatGPT image into PSD layers?
Yes. Download the image from Midjourney, ChatGPT, or any other generator, upload it here, and you get a PSD with the character, text, props, and background on separate layers.
Is this a Photoshop alternative?
For this one job, yes: it does the selecting, masking, and background fill that would take a long session in Photoshop. You still open the PSD in Photoshop, Photopea, Krita, or Clip Studio to keep editing.
